Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (maida)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon oil
- Water (as needed)
For the stuffing:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- ½ teaspoon finely chopped ginger
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic
- ½ cup finely chopped cabbage
- ½ cup finely chopped carrots
- ¼ cup finely chopped green beans (optional)
- ¼ cup finely chopped spring onion greens (reserve some for garnish)
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
Instructions:
Mix flour, salt and oil in a bowl. Gradually add water, knead it until it forms a smooth and elastic dough. Cover the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan. Add ginger, garlic and fry for a minute. Add chopped vegetables and cook till they soften slightly. Add salt, pepper and soy sauce (if using). Remove from heat and stir in reserved green onion greens.
Divide the dough into small balls. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of stuffing in the center of the circle.
Bring the edges together to form half-moon shapes, pinching the edges to seal. Make pleats on the sealed edge for a decorative touch.
Arrange the momos in a single layer in a steamer basket without touching each other. Steam for 10-12 minutes or until completely cooked.
Enjoy your veg momos hot with your favorite chutney or dipping sauce.
